Oh hey, everyone. You stumbled back upon this. I never really wrapped up the revamped site I promised! That's okay though, I think we all moved on. Some truly lasting friendships and a whole fuckton of drama were developed here in a nice slushy 2:3 ratio. Should you care to find me someday, I'm on Steam. Search "bigglesbringsdanoize" and you should bump into my account. Happy travels, stranger!

Flight practice Empty Flight practice

Post by calhoun Fri Aug 19, 2011 4:32 pm

It occurs to me that, not unlike myself, many of you have yet to get a good grasp on flying in Bad Company 2. To combat this issue, I've decided to host private games weekly (or bi-weekly, depending on how many actually wish to participate) in which players have a safe place to practice piloting. The big issue I have with practicing in public matches is the sole fact that the other players won't allow it. Its not just the enemies shooting everything from rockets to AA guns at you, its usually your own team trying to camp out the helipad and jump in the moment it spawns. The practices will be would be held as such:

Map: Heavy Metal (the only map with 4 helicopters and enough space for everyone to pilot comfortably.)
Teams: 2 teams of 1-2 squads.
Duration: Until everyone is done and leaves, or we all decide to actually play the game against randoms, either or.

Squads would be divided in in two, this allows each helicopter to have a pilot and the correct number of gunners. I know with two full squads per team, that's 16 people, 2 for both attack helicopters, 4 for both Blackhawks. That leaves 4 more people, two from both teams. We have a purpose for them. They can chose to either ride along in the Blackhawks OR practice shots at the helicopters. Anyone interested, please post your PSN here and when you have the free time to join. No date has been set as of yet.

So far, VladPanda and Biggles have both expressed interest in joining, though Biggles doesn't have a copy of BC2 at the moment.

Not everyone has Onslaught, and even fewer are willing to Gameshare it to those who don't have it.

Uh, I never said most do. My point was that I have a poor attention span. And game sharing can be a bitch since you're only able to share your games with 5 people, and most have already spent their share slots.

If you want, you can still be one of those extra 2 who don't have to really participate and just run around bsing on the map.

Also, sweet Shin, that's 4-5/8 already.

I'm down with this idea. I've been practicing in Onslaught and I've managed to keep the chopper stable without crashing. I need to learn how to move fast without moving down though. I can either stay at the same height, but move slowly, or I move quickly but I start sinking to the ground.

I'm usually on around 10 p.m PST.

Maybe it's from the guy on gfaqs, he was asking to do a private flight practice match and I gave him the URL to this thread.

hey guys...i would love to play and if by any chance I'm on when it occurs ill be down to join...though I can never guarentee exactly the time I will be....im just writing to give you a friendly notice...i take it you are trying to learn to fly for bf3,right? if not then disregard this...in the bf3 thread there was a link to demize's list of things I believe are confirmed...one of those things is the auto leveling of helicopters (which means when you let go of you controllers the heli will, well, level...also it can completely roll over also which I believe can't in bc2) you guys may have better luck practicing with bc1...i just wanted to tell you and do what you guys wanna do I just thought I should mention this...hope it helps

edit: "No auto stabilization on helis"...those are the words used.

Look at that, we got 7. Now to just figure out the best time to hold it.

Also, I'll be the one hosting it so I'll likely be the one sending out the invites for it.

Post by _V1 Thu Aug 25, 2011 1:10 pm

i said lots in a message to a guy who posts here via message on gamefaqs. so ima just c&p that:

i'm up for abit of practice flying. i'm already a competent pilot but i recognis flaws i have that go do with being ironed out. i also have a friend who's recently started playing that wants to learn to fly. also had an idea for it. aswel as practicing to fly people will also need to practice flying in different situations. being under fire from enemy, being hit by a rocket/AA gun and needing to keep control. after some practice flight it may be a good idea to have enemies start shooting at the pilots so they can practice "evasive manuvers" aswel as being able to use the attack choppers rockets to fight back. for practicing being hit by an explosive you could (as long as in normal mode) have a squad mate throw some C4 onto the tail of the chopper and detonate after some time, thus creating the scenario of being hit by a rocket (rockets don't always kill in 1). the same could be done with AA fire. have a squad mate shoot at you. seeing as how this will be a private game nothing will count towards overall stats so nobody should mind if they die few times. let me know what you think and if im in for practice
