Re: GTA V
Seems legit, but it's definitely not box art, no mosaic. ( well, duh, it says "pre order now" )

Re: GTA V
Could be real yes, I did see an announcement that they're releasing the first bits of info next month.
If it's coming out in Spring 2013 alongside Rome II: Total War and Company of Heroes 2...my word. I'll have to skip work for several weeks XD.

Re: GTA V
Excellent news!
I love that artwork. The apple logo XD.
But no PC version is annoying as hell. I was planning to get it on PS3 anyway...but still.

Re: GTA V
They couldn't release a PC version of GTA V.
Motherboards that support 3 terabytes of RAM aren't available to consumers yet.

Re: GTA V
That Campster dude does have some valid points, but I personally like that disconnect of either following the storyline or causing your own anarchy. It's fun as hell to pile up a bunch of cars and chuck a grenade in the middle of them, just to see what happens. But at some point, you (I) get sort of 'tired' of it and think, "Well, now let's go do something productive."
GTA IV seemed to try and add this "realism", I guess, (I mean, toll-booths? really?) and remove some of the silliness the other games in the franchise had. Kill frenzies, and finding a Harrier jet in the middle of the desert, and ramping a semi-truck off the top of a mountain, etc. But it's not like I blame them for doing so, cuz there are times whilst sitting in traffic or at a toll booth where I want nothing more than to pull out a rocket launcher, then go lie in my bed so the cops stop looking for me.
Alas, I am very very excited for GTA V.

If they optimize the PC version well enough, I'll wait for as long as they want.
It's a hard gamble, but there's no shame in trying.

Re: GTA V
I'll get both versions, as the PC version will most likely follow the pattern and come out later.
R* have improved on this lately but I hope there's some platform parity here. GTA IV only ran+looked decent on the XBOX 360.
I agree with Val about GTA IV as well. Very disappointing for me. As someone who finished all 3 PS2 GTAs 100% (I had a lot of time on my hands in those days okay >_>) I didn't even finish the story of GTA IV. Felt very spare and stripped down compared to San Andreas and the missions were very repetitive. That being said I did enjoy the Episodes a lot.
One more thing about GTA IV compared to the others. The soundtrack was dreadful. Lost and the Damned redeemed itself here with the death metal/rock songs added and Ballad of Gay Tony had some really good electronic music too. So here's hoping GTA V has some decent music, or better yet allows custom music on PS3.

Vladivostok FM, ftw! I would wait to get out of the car anytime this song came on:Felixlynch777 wrote:One more thing about GTA IV compared to the others. The soundtrack was dreadful.
But then again, you're probably right, seeing as though my favorite radio station in IV had all songs in language(s) I can't understand.
San Andreas had the best soundtrack in my opinion though. Every radio station was pretty good. Even the house-music channel (which I really don't care for) at least had the DJ with the silly German accent. XD

Re: GTA V
Vladivostok FM was a pure joy, I have to admit. And looking back GTA IV has some good ones. Edge of Seventeen, Heaven and Hell, Turn You Inside Out. So maybe I was harsh, dreadful is too strong a word. "Not as good" is better lol. You know me though, I have to say Vice City is the best. Way too many good songs to list.
Looking through the soundtracks has given me the inspiration to pick my favourite from each game. Also because I'm bored at work with nothing better to do. I'm trying to pick the more obscure ones as we all know the famous ones like Video Killed the Radio Star from VC or Run to The Hills from GTA Lost and the Damned.
GTA III
^Bit of the old Drum n Bass.
Vice City
Way too many to choose here. So I'll pick a few
^Of course I have to put that in.
GTA San Andreas
^My personal favourite.
GTA IV
GTA Lost and the Damned:
So heavy <3
^Absolutely loved this one as it introduced me to Grindcore.
^Beazel's favourite I believe.
^Fits the biker theme perfectly.
GTA: Ballad of Gay Tony
^Amazing, fantastic name too haha.
So there we go. Stupidly long post but it gave me some enjoyment XD.

It also plays every time you went to the club and "danced" by pressing buttons in a certain order.
And, the singer of that band ("Kool") is also the bass player.
and it was in an episode of Lizzie McGuire... (wary)

Saint's Row is a lot more silly and unrealistic is my understanding of it. Never played it.

Re: GTA V
I was watching some Saints Row The Third gameplay, and my completely uneducated first impressions thought was, "Isn't this what GTA should be?". It seemed silly and fun like the older GTAs. But Idunno.
Re: GTA V
it's silly and outrageous, but almost to the point where it hits you over the head with it, over and over again... long after you're already dead.
it's a fun distraction, with lots to do, but something about it just seems... off.
i'm of the camp that GTA should go back to it's roots somewhat, include the kill frenzies, the announcer, etc, but saint's row just makes me feel like i'm playing a game for a 12 year old who just discovered dick jokes.

Re: GTA V
Yeah surprisingly enough Saints Row never appealed to me. I don't mind realism, RDR isn't silly and is fairly serious and was a lot better than GTA IV.

Some info about pre-orders, seems silly to pre-order so far in advance though.

Re: GTA V
Saints Row is that game you play for a quick laugh, not because it's genuinely fun to play or anything. For me, at least.
You might have a total blast with it, but by the time you're finished, you're left with the half assed gameplay. It all feels so superficial. Maybe that's just me, though.

Re: GTA V
Saints Row as a series, for me, was better at staying true to GTA's roots than GTA was.
I also liked that tutorial missions felt a little more natural than GTA's tendency to contrive a reason for one to take place.
Now, that being said, Saint's Row (3, in particular) is marketed as a "funny" game, which is kind of difficult to agree with. It's only funny if you think people with Tourette's are hilarious, which I suspect a large majority of the population probably does, because here's the extent to which it attempts humor:
"SnM PONY CART RIDES! HAR HAR!"
"DICK JOKES! HAR HAR!"
And so on. I'm not saying that sex jokes can't be funny, I'm saying that there's simply no reason for them to be there in SR3 other than as a poor substitute for having an actual plotline.
Saint's Row's first two entries, I loved. Saint's Row 3 kinda missed the point. Wackiness isn't the same thing as humor.
That being said, you'll find more inventive missions for sure in SR.
So it's really a matter of personal preference: GTA takes things in a more mature direction, with real stakes behind its contrived-as-fuck missions, Saint's Row plays better as a game.
At least, IMO.

Re: GTA V
Well, as someone who thinks 99% of games stories are hamfisted bullshit, which has cooler gameplay? What I saw of The Third looked pretty awesome in co-op.
