I'm gonna keep this simple.

The way I've been doing mods on Xat isn't working.

I'm cutting down everything as follows:

-There will only be 2 admins, not counting me, who is forced to be an admin even though I don't like being an admin very much.

-There will only be 5 mods.

So, think long and hard about who you think is best for the job.

Because I am not voicing my own opinions on any of this. I didn't pick well enough, it seems, and I apologize for that. It's better if you guys decide, since you do own this place just as much as I do.

C. Thank you for my forum compliment. I try not to be overbearing, yet control spam. When I went through, split topics, and deleted spam, it seemed to stop. (Some of it could be spam, but I looked at the the message of the pictures within the context of the conversation before deleting it)
D. Are people deleting their posts because I dont see a Felix suggestion or a Val comment. Conspiracy much? Don't try to cover up the Coup de Tat, JM! It won't solve the issues for the proletariat!

I think that having JDM and JM as owners would work well.
Biggles would be as well, but that's only cause it would be too complicated to make someone else the main owner.

Its basically what val said we usually always have one owner on at any time so I vote three mod's

While I appreciate the concerns that a few of you have expressed, I think we have too many mods as-is.

Having one on at all times is important, and that's why I'm waiting to see suggestions for members in different time zones.

But I think a few people have the wrong idea about what the purpose of a mod is.

It isn't about me liking you enough to let you do whatever the hell you want. Hell, I'd argue that being an effective mod is the hardest job I can give someone on here, because the exact opposite is true.

You have to be willing to look at situations objectively, do what is right, even if that means treading on the proverbial foot of your buddies here. I've had to do that quite a few times, and it really, really sucks. You have to be somewhat nice about it, which, in my opinion, doesn't usually happen. It's difficult as hell to remain calm when someone is pissing you or someone you know off.

And as much as I don't want to sound like an ass in saying this, I don't think the majority of people here can do that. Hell, I can't, try though I might.

When I get asked for a mod position, I have to think about quite a few things, so you see. Why it isn't really fair of me to pick mods is that I am a busy guy. Even though I'm logged into the xat around three to four hours a day, I'm usually doing other things, casually stopping now and again to see what's going on.

And because I don't want anyone to feel left out, I simply make everyone a mod who asks, whether I feel they are a good candidate or not.

Which is why I'm fairly shitty at my job, which is to manage the xat. If giving my account away to someone better-qualified were possible without having to make a completely new account, I'd do it right now. This is the same reason I gave up being an owner on the first xat.

So, I stress this again.

SoFA is your community. It's as successful as you feel like making it. I'd recommend thinking about timezones, so that there's a good chance someone will be on at all times who can lay down whatever sort of law needs laying down.

And just because someone's a cool person doesn't make them a good mod.

If Lucas is able to be around, then I'd vote him in with Jammer.

I haven't noticed if JDM is actually present/active in the chat all the time he's there.
