I think the reason SoFA has worked well so far is because we had the uncanny luck of having Biggles around. I know he's not too fond of the idea of running this place, but a humble dictator with a heart of gold is rare and very unlikely, but if you can find one it beats democracy.

Democracy is fair, sure, but in the end it often means a place is run by a bunch of well meaning (or not) but hot headed people who have a hard time being objective. Things eventually get personal and people become corrupted.

I do not care if I'm a Xat mod or not, I'm happy as long as there's one mod around at all times. Usually JM takes very good care of the chat, but there have been times when he's not around where (for example) me and Neuro have had to put up with randoms spamming without us being able to do anything about it.

Speaking of which, Neurocil is a reasonable and calm guy (when he's not playing BC2 that is), he could also be a good Xat mod candidate during EU hours.

I can't think of too many times when neither JM nor JDM where in the xat.
and what I think you people are forgetting is that now we are a members only Xat.
Randoms can no longer spam the xat unless someone members them first.

The problem is, Hek, that you think you're "online all the time". You are not, stuff happens when you/JM/JDM aren't around.
Yes, we're no longer listed, which is awesome, but I think it's a good idea to have one mod in the chat at all times.

I'm not going to quote Biggles whole text here, but I get what he is saying. He needs someone who can look at the situation and make a decision without worrying about feelings. Now I know why he made me an admin. I am a teacher and that makes me an ass. I can follow through with what needs to be done while suppressing my urge to do something fun because of not wanting to hurt their feelings. I am a bully and I clearly express that. Thanks for recognizing that, Bigs.

Note: I really don't want to hurt their feelings, but stuff has got to get done.

What you said sounds completely fair and reasonable, and anyone that doesn't agree needs to GTFONAO.

What if-- Whoever wants to be a Xat Mod, states their case in this thread [including what time(s) they're usually on], and then either a vote is held or Biggles "dictates" the decision?

whatever you guys decide im cool with it...if there is a way to create a "pecking" order or like a ranking system giving the mod power to the person highest in rank when they are on...but I can def see issues with ranking everyone too...either way you look at it ill do whatever cause I love being dominated Wink

I looked at who was on relatively frequently, had been recommended by at least a few people, and seemed to be calm even when people got drama-y. And timezone spread was an important consideration, as well.
