Well, from what I heard from, I think it was Omni (?) in the xat, Red Orchestra 2, which is a released full game, is a glitchy mess to the point of almost being broken, whereas BF3, which is admittedly also glitchy, is only a beta.

1: Anecdotal evidence from one person isn't fact. I haven't found it a glitchy mess at all.
2: BF3s beta is a demo, no beta comes out less than a month before release.
3: DICE's budget and dev team is several times larger than the devs of RO2.
4: The gameplay is what I find so good about, withstanding the few glitches.

felix what are you smoking...RO2 had a horrible launch, and they are still patching the hell out of it. it's not a one person anecdote, check their forums and online....

falling through the ground, getting stuck on objects, horrible optimization, bad hit detection, kicks you from the game if you're on wireless for "speed hacking."..... maybe it's been patched out, but after having to update the game for the umpteenth time i kinda lost interest, as well as all my friends who pre-ordered.

i'm not saying the game itself is bad, just that it's barely playable for a lot of people. pretty sure the server population speaks for itself...

Look, my "computer" (and I use that term lightly) won't allow me to play a game of RO2's caliber, so I'll probably never get to experience it. But rest assured, if I could, I would. It sounds like it has awesome potential and I wish no harm on its success. I'm not here to ridicule it in any way, I wish both BF3 and RO2 would turn out to be great games in the end.

I honestly think it's better than BF3. I'll explain some stuff:

1: The game is ultra realistic. If you get shot it's either a non-fatal wound, fatal wound or it's instant death. You have two bandages to stop bleeding from non-fatal wounds. Fatal wounds are usually to the torso and you have about 15 seconds before you bleed out and die.

2: Aiming is mostly to do with breathing. You hold down shift to zoom in a little and hold your breath.

3: You can dial in range on the sites, going from 100m to 1000m.

4: It has a cover system. You press Ctrl to to go into cover. You can lean out or blindfire, etc.

5: There are 8 classes, Assault (SMG), Rifleman (Bolt action rifle), Elite Rifleman (Semi-Auto rifle), Marksman (Sniper), Machine Gun (Machine guns), Anti Tank (Anti tank rifle and AT grenades), Squad Leader (SMG with smoke grenades. You can only spawn on your squad leader or at your base) and Commander (like BF2, he can call in artillery, force respawn everyone and give orders). There are limits so there can only be one sniper, 3 Elite Riflemen and so forth.

6: One gamemode, similar to Assault Conquest in BF2.

7: The community is great. At least 3-4 people have mics and communicate well. Friendly fire is always on but if it is an accident then people are fine with it (yesterday I was on an MG, had got 6 kills when 2 of my team mates rather foolishly ran right past my line of fire and I mowed them down XD)

8: It's 64 players max, but majority of servers do 48 players.

9: A great feature is barrel overheating. If your MG overheats you have to switch the barrel.

I'll post more later. RO2 does have tanks on certain levels but it is infantry focused. I really enjoy it, a fantastic game that doesn't get the attention it deserves.

So I was lucky enough to be the commander today. Commander is like BF2, you get to force respawn people (respawn time is in waves of 25 seconds) and call in recon planes that show where the enemies are. You can also call in artillery, rockets and mortars on locations designated by your squad leaders. Luckily my team were good so they called in good positions. First artillery strike got 4 kills. Second got 2. My final one was amazing, 11 kills. I did accidentally call it in on my team's own position once, killed 2 of my guys (I must be in the American military trolololo).

That's a fantastic post coming from a developer really. I cannot express enough how much I despise "This game is dying" threads and comments whatever game it comes to. There's something very self-entitled, arrogant and almost paparazzi about a customer/player/user saying that. Even if the person in question makes it look like he's "concerned", it's incredibly destructive and turns into a self fulfilling prophecy. A game could be doing okay, but if people keep repeating "IT'S DYING" then that might actually start happening.
Beating a dead horse indeed.
