At the end of the 1100's the Earth's temperature rose dramatically and the British grew better wine grapes than the French. Are you sure it is 9 years for lefties? That is a huge number difference, being born left handed would have a large stigma if it was that big. Must be 9 months or weeks. And the reason for the difference is that tools and machines are designed for right handed use, leading to more accidents. An interesting example is the British army assault rifle in the 80s, the SA80. Being fired be a left hander would result in the empty casing flying straight into the soldier's face.

And the Braid trivia is that on the surface the story is a Mario like "saving a princess" thing. But the final level, in which it emerges that the princess is actually running away from you and being rescued by the bad guy. If you do somemelaborate stuff, don't remember it now, the princess in the final level will instead blow up in a nuclear explosion when the player touches her. The real story of Braid is that the princess reprsents atomic weapons and that the player is the creator of this weapon, trying to go back in time to make it so he never made nuclear weapons. This is further validated in that the game ends with a quote from the lead researcher of the Trinity Nuclear Weapons Program.

Here's one, aluminum used to be an expensive metal because it's not readily available. ($1200 per kilogram in 1852) Scientists worked on methods of producing aluminum, thus it's price dropped. ($40 per kilogram in 1859) Then some scientist discovered an inexpensive way of producing aluminum so it's days of being an expensive metal had ended.
