BF3 SoFA Server

So this topic has been floating around for a while but what do the PC players getting BF3 think of renting our own server? I wouldn't mind paying a larger share of the costs but if we spread it out it would be pretty cheap for a much improved game experience. These are the things we have to consider:

1: If the participants are willing to pay.
2: Do any of us have server admin experience?
3: The location of the server.
4: Any potential custom rules (no killcam pl0x).


I think it would be a really good idea, but what does everyone else think?

I would be down...I just wouldn't know what to do to give whoever money...my only concern though would be how do we get the thing populated with players so when I go on we aren't the only people

Well, wouldn't random people be playing in the server constantly (under your servers rules of course), and you, the owners, would always have reserved slots.

Yeah but there were tons of unpopulated servers for bfbc2 and just cause we make a server doesn't always mean people will be on it

@Twin Don't worry I've got that base covered. I'll pick up the monthly payment for you since you're too young to give any of your own money. It shouldn't be more than 5 or so dollars per person, so I really don't mind paying for you.


I think we'll be able to get players by basically being sensible. No bullshit rules, no weird settings, OPed weapons/abuses not being allowed and team play being promoted.


I'll do more research on release about payment options.

Since you bitches know I'm Brazilian, lag factors in, so I'm thinking that a server in Texas or along the southern western coast of the US would work well for everyone, including Europe.

And rules? Eh, no killcam I guess, that's it.

It really depends on how much the cost will be divided and who's gonna collect the payment

I think a paypal account would be the best for this. It is easy and convenient.
I think we all trust each other enough in that there will not be any concerns of people siphoning off money.


As for custom rules, unless we get large amounts of customisation then no killcam is find with me. Of course if some stupid tactic like C4 on the mcoms happens again then we can stop that as well. I'll do more research and report back.

I could manage a server. The problem, of course, is interest. I'm not willing to pay more than $7-8 a month, meaning we need at least 6 or 7 people interested in this.

tbh...im sure we could leech onto another good server...i mean there are some pretty good ones out there that set pretty decent rules...idk...it would be nice to be privileged but i just wanna play

@Biggles Obviously if it is too expensive then there is no need. I know that quite a few SnM players are getting this for PC, we should ask if they want to merge with us for the server.

The server I play on bf2 is pretty good as well and always populated...TBG...I've only encountered a couple of couches
