That and Rome 2 makes 2013 a strategy fan's dream. Biggles on the other hand...PC player who dislikes RTS. Shame on him.

Best genre of games IMO. LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, Age of Empires, Starcraft, CoH, C&C, etc. Some fantastic games.

Saying I don't like RTS is a little wrong.

I don't like large-scale RTS. Most happen to be the type of game where I'm required to build a city and manage lots of things, and I don't care for that.

Full Spectrum Warrior, a tactical RTS in which you command a squad of four, was an RTS I really liked.

And while it's not technically an RTS, being turn-based, I loved the new XCOM more than anything else this year.

excellent game that was... i had the sega genesis version "Battle for Arrakis"... i still pop it in from time to time.... dem fremen are op.

I don't get it.

What makes that different than a console?

It's fine if Valve wants to make a Steam console, but I do wish they'd stop pretending it's some shocking new innovation, lol.

if it gets more people enjoying steam, all the power to them.... i'm sure valve will be smart enough to price it well.

might finally smash the myth that "you need 2000$ to be able to play computer games" and that "what if i want to play games on my couch?" dilemma many people seem to be hung up on.

I do want to see specs. If the rumored i7/ high-end GTX combo is true, and they can charge a discounted price for it, Valve could feasibly become the console manufacturer (well, in this case, licensor?) to beat.

What I'd like to see even more, though, is a console with competing digital marketplaces. :>

Competition is what makes things better, after all.

Agreed, one of my worries are that if the consoles are next gen then you'll have to buy games from PSN/XBL. Both are overpriced, shoddy services to buy games from.
